XIV Tallinna Talvefestival / Tallinn Winter Festival
This year the festival will take place for the 14th time as well as the charity initiative “Open your eyes, open your heart” in support of SOS Children's Village. During a week diverse concerts will be held in well-known concert venues, where artists including Irina Zahharenkova, Maria Veretenina, Andreas Lend, Virgo Veldi and other top Estonian soloists as well as the Boys’ Choir of Estonian National Opera and string ensemble Võlukeeled perform. In 2021 we will continue supporting SOS Children’s Village in purchasing musical instruments for the talented kids and enabling music therapy for them.

SOS Children’s Village accommodates about 200 kids without biological parental care. SOS Children’s Village’s trustees take care about 144 risk families, including 357 children who have been caught in a difficult situation, being afraid to be separated from their biological parents. SOS Childrens’ Village does everything in their power to improve the situation in the family and not to separate children from their mother and father.
All kids under the care of SOS Children’s Village have lived long for years or often their whole life in lack of love and feeling of security. For a lot of kids music has an important role in recovering from the psychic traumas. The majority of kids need music around them as much as air, by gaining energy and letting wonderful sounds to carry them into the fantasy world and hoping from the bottom of their heart that music never stops. Some kids who are interested in music are extremely talented and therefore need thorough and profesional guidance and more advanced instrumental training.
With the donated money from Tallinn Winter Festival, SOS Children’s Village could buy professional musical instruments for the kids, who have the potential to connect their future with the world of music. We would also wish to enable more music therapy for the kids than before with the donated money.
